The word HERB comes from the Latin wordherba, meaning grass,green stalks, or blades. Botanists use the word to mean any plant with soft, succulent tissues.

An herb is a plant grown for medicinal value or for flavouring food,there is some overlap between the milder leafy herbs and the more strongly-flavoured leaf vegetables. This category does not include the much wider category of herbaceous plants.
